A Dream Born on Lake Nabugabo
Nestled on the western shore of Lake Nabugabo — a tranquil sanctuary separated from Lake Victoria by a narrow strip of land — our centre began as a modest retreat in 1969. What started as a handful of simple cabins for Kampala families seeking weekend escapes has grown into one of Uganda's most cherished lakeside destinations.
The lake itself is special: bilharzia-free, warm year-round, and sheltered by papyrus wetlands that harbour over 200 bird species. It's this unique environment that has drawn generations of guests back to our shores.
From Cabins to a Complete Retreat
Over the decades, we've carefully expanded — always mindful of preserving the natural beauty that makes Nabugabo magical. Today we offer forest cabins, lakeside chalets, luxury glamping tents, and spacious family cottages, each designed to blend into the landscape rather than dominate it.
Our farm-to-table restaurant serves fresh Ugandan cuisine prepared with ingredients sourced from local farms and the lake itself. Every meal is an invitation to taste the authentic flavours of Masaka district.
